Standstill

The entire world came to a standstill on the day I was born,

With the Internet, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter all corrupted :

I would have attained salvation had I died a day earlier,

For such was the predicament I find my beloveds and myself in.

Is it the beginning of an ongoing march culminating in annihilation?

Has mankind's struggle for generations aimed at development been futile?

Was a negation of the erstwhile means of communication so precarious?

I pondered over these vital issues causing major concerns.

The sense of insecurity prevailed all through day and night,

The major hubs of technology were almost on the point of giving up;

The world moving at lightspeed experienced a lightspeed lag,

And all equations of caste, creed, gender and race became topsy- turvy.

At a spur of the moment I resolved to press the rewind button,

A few oracular utterances sprang from the storehouse of my memory;

I heard the Cajoler's voice rising to break the deadly silence,

And flowed the outpourings aimed at a grand revivification:

“Just as shadows indicate the light shining somewhere nearby,

Just as only through cracks do lights pour in,

Just as every pain ultimately makes life endurable,

Stick to your innate belief that you are born free to save and serve,

And you need to give a return gift by being what you are:

Let not your undue addiction to scientific belief harm your spirit;

You shall not quell established theory in your quest for new ones;

You shall not venture to survive by usurping to other's space:

Don't ever break the chain of events that this life is;

Just make sure you are not in reverse mode to antiquity:

Have a fine mix and match policy in all your bearings and transactions

And ensure that you have a maximum use of your minimum resources,

For, all is for all ; yet, all is not for all”.

  1. Sir
    Verse is exquisite.
    I ponder over your lines.
    Actually we don't want to rely technology more. We should run with the techno-scientific developments.But we don't want to be shrouded.
    Any way I expect more intellectual verses from you.
    I think you remember me.
    I was your student In BA Eng Literature class 1999to 2002
    We met last year at District Registrar office Palakkad.

  10. Interesting ideas.

    But then, can we stem the flow of time? Nor can we prevent the advancement science. Perhaps we can only tame/ride it, if possibly.

    Glad to see that you are making best use of your time in the desert ( ha )
